At a time when the citizens of California, as the rest of the world, had their eyes turned towards Washington, D.C., President Bush, and our brave men and women in the armed forces being deployed to preserve American Liberty, the fascist-like California Democrats controlling the California Legislature have passed and the Governor Gray Davis has signed into law two new gun laws that will potentially take California, at a time when the ability to defend the homeland is paramount, back to WWII Nazi Germany. AB 35 and SB 52 began as identical Gun Owner & Licensing (Registration of gun owners) bills. They have been passed as basically requiring gun safety courses, however, these harassing bills have the potential for laying the legislative groundwork for so much more. Under the new laws that will take effect January 1, 2003, gun owners will have to take a safety course, a 30 question written exam, will have to perform before a certified instructor, submit thumbprints to a more stringent background check, and through this will have to obtain the required certificate allowing the gun owner to purchase the firearm. While the state calls it a certificate, make no mistake about it, it is registration of the gun owner, a clear infringement upon the Second and Fourteenth Amendments. American Sons of Liberty will be looking at fighting this with an immediate injunction, and are currently in discussions with other organizations to stop this totalitarianism with a combined force of conservative pro-Constitutional organizations.

Congress May Force Legal Gun Owners to Make Their Guns Inoperable

The gun grabbers have already disarmed much of the population and left many Americans defenseless at a time when an armed citizenry is the best defense against terrorism and crime, the U.S. Congress is poised to impose another burdensome restriction on Second Amendment rights. It's called "demilitarization," and if a new bill in the Senate passes as currently written it could result in millions of innocent American gun owners being branded as criminals without their knowledge. "Demilitarization" the NRA explains, "is the term for rendering such items permanently inoperable, and Sec. 1062 allows for this action to be carried out either by the owner or a third party, with the owner paying the cost, or by the DoD.""It is likely millions of law-abiding Americans would be affected, and could unknowingly become criminals overnight without having done anything or having ever been informed," the NRA says.
The NRA urges Americans to contact their U.S. senators at (202) 224-3121, and their U.S. representative at (202) 225-3121, and urge them to strike Sec. 1062 from S. 1438, the "National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2002."
