A friend recently wrote me in quite a state of rage and grief over the attack on America. I knew just how she felt, as do most of us I imagine. I had held so much pain inside me without even realizing it that while answering and attempting to boost the morale of my friend, I fanatically pounded my keyboard. All that was in my own mind and heart came pouring out. This friend said my letter helped her. I was stunned. What I have not yet told her, is how much she helped me by opening herself up and sharing her grief and anger with such force that I, in my attempt to pick up her spirits, released my own suffering. If you gain any renewed sense of strength from it, it has served a very worthy purpose. The letter is as written, typo's and all...
To my friend, and she knows who she is, I send a public thank-you. Had you not opened up your heart to me, I may have never released the depth of my own pain and anger. So you see, it was not I who did you a favor, but you who did me one. Allow me to borrow "Tiny Tim's" phrase:
I feel your pain - and I don't say that like Clinton did - I MEAN IT. I am in such a rage I have been pounding this keyboard making pages to GET OUT THE TRUTH and get the smut, imorality and vile evil out of our daily existence. I have a smoldering, simmering, potentially lethal anger burning in me also, (insert name here). I needed an outlet and found it in that site but it isn't quite enough and I don't seem to have enough time to do all I want to. What can we here at home do? (My friend), believe me, I've been living this right along with you and you know full well I've been going through a slew of emotions here too. What I suggest for both of us it that we resolve to fight against those things we despise most with the attitude of "WHAT HAVE WE TO LOSE ANY MORE!!!" I have said for a long time, I'll do it because no one can take anything from someone who has nothing and therefore, has nothing to lose.
We must fight with our mouths and our computers as we have never done before. Propriety be damned- THIS IS WAR! And we are going to fight here on the home front and girlfriend, WE ARE GOING TO WIN! I know this as sure as God leaves me sitting here in this miserable existence.
We need to take this anger, and direct it into the "war on the homefront" mode and say,
Let's ROLL!!!
We're going to do it for Todd Beamer, we're going to do it for the thousands of orphaned children, we're going to do it for every person who lost a spouse, we're going to do it for those brave firemen, policemen and priests and ministers who gave their lives trying to save others, we are going to do it for every person that called a loved one to say good-bye because they knew they were going to die, we are going to do it for the likes of the man who stayed with his parapalegic friend so his friend wouldn't die alone, we're going to do it for every body that cannot be pulled from the cinders of the still smoldering fire. We're going to do it for every body that had to jump off the towers and die from pain and fear - we're going to do it for every flag that waves across this country, we're going to do it for FREEDOM, we're going to do it because God saw fit to keep us safe thus far, we're going to do it for the blasting out of verbal warfare the liberal lunatics need - it's time for us - their time has come to an end.
All right girlfriend, orders from the home front - get up, pull up them boot straps, go to a mirror, look yourself in the eye and say, WE WILL PREVAIL! NOTHING ELSE IS ACCEPTABLE!!!!!!! And say it until you believe it. Cry if you have to, but get that resolve and hang onto it like a lifeline because right now, that is precisely what it is. And you will believe it, you have to. Take that anger and turn in into resolve. They will not succeed. As long as you succumb to that anger in a negative way my dear friend, you are letting every terrorist win. Come back to me because I need you in my camp. What are you -------- ?????-
